The Importance Of Newborn Nearing Screening
1.What is newborn hearing screening?
Neonatal hearing screening is a measure of acoustic emission for each newborn born 48-72 hours during hospitalization, which requires the newborn to be in a natural sleep or quiet state. The test results are expressed in the form of "pass" and "fail". Otoacoustic emission detection has the advantages of fast, safe and non-invasive. Neonatal hearing screening can early screen children with congenital or neonatal hearing impairment, allowing early diagnosis and intervention to avoid delays.
2.Why do newborn hearing screening?
Newborn hearing screening is the most effective measure for early detection of neonatal and infantile spasms. Sometimes parents can't accurately determine whether their child can really hear the sound. When the child is 3 years old, they find that the child has no reaction to their call and hurriedly take the child to the hospital for treatment. However, it is still impossible to save the child and miss the best language. During the developmental period, the child's speech is poorly developed, and in severe cases, complete hoarseness may occur.
Hearing screening is carried out after the baby is born. It is possible to detect the presence of deafness in the baby at the first time, so as to take early treatment measures for the child.
3.What is included in newborn hearing screening?
The content of newborn hearing screening includes: screening subjects, time, environment, methods, steps, etc.
The screening target is for all newborns. Where there are no conditions, at least the hearing screening of high-risk neonates with deafness should be conducted according to local conditions.
Time: Two-stage screening is carried out, that is, screening is performed before discharge, and those who fail are rescreened within 42 days, and those who have not passed the hearing diagnosis center. Newborns with high-risk factors, even through hearing screening, should be combined with hearing behavior observations and followed up every 6 months for 3 years.
Environment: There should be a dedicated room with good ventilation and ambient noise below 45dB (A).
Step: The test subject is in a quiet state and a sedative can be used if necessary. First clean the ear canal, then test both ears separately. Gently put the probe into the probe and the instrument will display the result by itself. If it fails, repeat the test 2~3 times.
