“Newborn hearing screening failed” Parent Notice 2
Remember to have a diagnostic hearing test before 3 months of age
Be sure to remember to take your baby to a reliable child hearing diagnosis center for a diagnostic audiological examination and medical examination within 3 months of age (not necessarily waiting for 3 months, the sooner the better). Even single-ear "healing screening failed" is no exception. If a single ear is diagnosed with hearing problems, it should pay more attention to the child's hearing, because the proportion of late-onset hearing problems in such children is greatly increased.
3.1 What checks should I do?
(1) Acoustic impedance of high frequency sounding (1000Hz)
(2) Otoacoustic emission(DPOAE&TEOAE)
(3) auditory brainstem response
Melison OAE hearing screener
The above three items are basic checks that must be made. If they are all within the normal range, they can be considered as passing the inspection. If it does not pass, it depends on the specific results, if necessary, to do some checks to understand the degree of hearing loss (light, medium, heavy, very severe), nature (conductivity, sensory, mixed) and The site (outer ear, middle ear, inner ear and auditory nerve), sometimes need to do some medical evaluation other than hearing;
At this point, you should find a doctor who is more proficient in pediatric listening mechanics, and explain and comprehensively evaluate the results of the examination.
Finally, it is important to emphasize that it is not terrible to find that your baby has hearing problems. What is terrible is that there is no action. Because even if the child has hearing problems, as long as early intervention (within 6 months), the current scientific means can basically let the child speak normally. In the past, I used to say "the tenths and nines are dumb". Now we work together to achieve "the tenth is not dumb."
